Barriga llena, corazón contento

“A full belly and a happy heart” is my new favourite line. Sometimes it happens that I find a line I absolutely adore and then it sticks to my mind until I find a new line that I find extremely accurate. But this time it was slightly different, because it was a special Spanish line that got my attention. I assume that it has something to do with the fact that I do one hour of Spanish every night in order to keep up with my Spanish class here in York. A lot of the people in my class have had Spanish much longer than me and even taken a GSCE exam in the subject (a GSCE exam is what we in Denmark would call the ‘final exam of primary school’) so they are all extremely good at talking Spanish! In many ways it makes me so insecure to be in a class with so many incredible talented Spanish speakers, but at the same time it makes me so pumped and excited to work hard on my homework so I can kick-ass in the lessons. So when the Spanish grammar is dragging me down, I put ‘Hips don’t lie’ with Shakira or ‘El Perdón’ with Erique Iglesias and tell myself to just keep going, so I one day (hopefully) will be able to talk Spanish fluent, haha.

Enough talking about Spanish when that wasn’t the topic I was going to blog about today, haha. The thing is, I found this (lovelyyyy) Spanish line in the middle of my Spanish class, when we were reading a text out loud. And as I desperately tried to catch up with the Super Spanish Students, I thought: “This line is the most accurate line ever to describe my stay here in York.” It is not a secret that I have spent way too much money on food the last month, haahah. Every time we are in the city (which we are quite often I have to say…) we find new adorable cafés that we just need to visit before we head home in three weeks. And even though coffee and food in general are much cheaper here in the UK, it still hurts my eyes when I look at my bank account. But hey, in fact I shouldn’t worry at all, because I have really been saving up for this trip and I guess the money are invested fine on adorable cafés with soya lattes and hours of talking with your best friends. If that isn’t a happiness, then I don’t know what is.

So I guess ¡barriga llena, corazón contento! will continue to be my favourite line. At least until I get back home and I seriously have to start saving again.
